  1. Hey, fellow Torontonian developer here. I have a lot of experience with Unix and Apple platforms, but haven’t developed on Windows since the 90′s. You seem to have a lot of understanding of MS platforms and I wonder if you can speculate on whether MS will keep the RT platform like iOS, or if they plan on bringing it closer to Windows 8 x86?

I’d like to experiment with Windows 8 development, as an avowed MS hater, I have to give them credit on their Windows 8 gamble, it seems like they may actually innovate their way into mobile! I was considering purchasing a WinRT Surface, but I doubt that MS will ever port Visual Studio to WinRT.

The biggest frustration for me, is that MS is actually attracting me, but the lack of transparency and communication makes me hesitant to take a risk. I realize that you are just a dev, but I wonder what you think about the future of WinRT vs Win x86, and whether it is a good time to be a dev, or there is still a mess to clean up before we can have smooth dev/deploy process?

    Thanks!
